Ordinarily, recap episodes are loathed among audiences as a pointless waste of time, or perhaps viewed as a requirement for series during the period of weekly production. However, this wasn't the situation, though Avatar: The Last Airbender demonstrated this via "The Ember Island Players," a popular segment in its last season now being getting a special Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair collection.

Highlights about the Secret Lair

The complete Secret Lair superdrop for the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender edition was revealed earlier this month. It features five Secret Lairs, and while one titled "My Cabbages!" is an admittedly humorous tribute to the series' beloved recurring figure, the additional releases appear slightly lacking creativity, except for one standout: "The Ember Island Players."

Based on the seventeenth episode from season 3 of the beloved series, this special set contains these specific cards:

• 1x Phantasmal Image as "Absolutely Accurate Actor"
• 1x Braid of Fire
• 1x Cursed Mirror
• 1x Mask of Memory
• 1x Thespian's Stage

The reason this episode is special

Fans of Avatar warmly cherish this particular episode, which served as a review of Aang and his companions' quest before the series' finale. Unlike standard summary installments, or compilation episodes, "The Ember Island Players" was not driven from financial limitations or production issues. The creators genuinely intended to provide audiences a chance to reflect on the overall plot, but they decided to do it creatively.

In the episode, the main characters view a stage show depicting their adventures on a stage on Ember Island, titled The Boy in the Iceberg. The whole thing is wildly exaggerated, melodramatic, and completely amusing. It succeeds because it plays with the characters' perception regarding their own identities, setting them against with how the world (and especially the Fire Nation citizens) views them. It has an ideal level of self-awareness, and it results in possibly the top rendition of the series available to date.

In terms of value, this offers a fantastic Secret Lair due to one key factor: Braid of Fire. This specific card is valued between $20 and $40 on online marketplaces at the time of writing, and for $29.99 you can obtain the complete collection, or $39.99 for the foil version.

Magic's Avatar: The Last Airbender set can be accessed during early access events starting November 14 and debuts internationally on Nov. 21.
