Ukraine has announced the commencement of mass production for a new locally engineered interceptor drone to reinforce its air defences. Three initial producers have started manufacturing, with 11 more getting ready to establish assembly lines, the defence ministry announced on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Combat Situations

The drones utilize a nationally created technology called “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. This technology underwent testing in actual battle and demonstrated effective “during nighttime, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a target of producing as many as 1,000 interceptors each day.

Recent Assault on Kyiv Described as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and brutal” after six individuals were killed and many others injured in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv just after 12 AM on Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

Moscow's military have been launching 200 to 250 aerial bombs per day, with last month’s daily average standing at approximately 170, based on official military statistics.

Ukrainian Attacks Focus on Moscow's Oil Facilities

Russia’s Black Sea port of the port city halted for a period oil exports on Friday – representing 2% of worldwide oil production – after a strike by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s general staff said its forces had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used multiple kinds of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to reduce the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukraine separately targeted a processing plant in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels during the night.

International Restrictions Impact Russian Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil announced this past Friday it is negotiating with interested parties concerning its international holdings following recent sanctions from the UK and the US and failure of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “Final arrangements will be announced after the final agreements have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” the company commented.

Ukrainian President Plans Visit to Spanish Capital

The Ukrainian leader will visit the Spanish capital, Madrid, on Tuesday to confer with lawmakers following his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. The Ukrainian president would meet representatives from all houses of the legislature throughout his stay, the Spanish statement confirmed.
